Well Heart

Where heart, mind, and spirit come together.

About Well Heart

Well Heart Psychotherapy was once Therapy with Katie, a solo, private practice ran by Dr. Katie Gillin, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. As Katie's practice has grown, so has the craziness in the world; more and more, people are recognizing the healing potential of therapy, creating a greater need for quality psychotherapy. Located in downtown Franklin and easily accessed by many local communities, it was clear that expanding into a group practice would fulfill the community's need in a way that it deserves: therapy that honors the whole self, where heart, mind and spirit can come together.

Well Heart's ethos naturally follows what Therapy with Katie was built upon: connection creates healing. Connection is created when a therapist loves their work; an easy tell is when your therapist is committed to listening and understanding, is open to exploration, and never, ever makes you feel wrong for how you feel. At Well Heart, you truly come as you are: anxious, curious, depressed, grieving, or sometimes simply seeking more in life...all that you need to be is yourself. If you are unsure of who that is, we will help you along your journey.

Well Heart believes that everyone is capable of change; capable of healing; capable of living life thoughtfully, mindfully, and truthfully. No matter the reason for seeking therapy, it is the human to human connection that begins the healing process.

Meet Katie

I have a Master's Degree in Counseling

Psychology and a Ph.D. in Depth Psychology with an emphasis in Psychotherapy, both from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. My areas of research combine studying Highly Sensitive People (HSP's) and Carl Jung's theory of individuation. My published dissertation explores, "How may the trait of high sensitivity bring us closer to the Self?".

I have worked in both residential and outpatient settings, and with individuals, couples and groups. My therapeutic niche is in working with individuals who are interested in exploring the inner self, willing to journey into the unknown of the unconscious, and those who just want to feel better.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Indiana, License Number 35002080A.

Quality therapy starts with quality therapists. Meet our village.

Meet Lauren

Are you new to therapy? Have you experienced therapy before, but haven’t found the relief you need? Finding the right therapist can be a challenging experience, whether you are looking for yourself or for a loved one. I applaud you for taking this first step, and I look forward to connecting with you!

My name is Lauren; I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of Indiana and Illinois. I obtained my Master’s Degree in Education in Mental Health Counseling from Western Kentucky University and my undergraduate studies at Indiana University in psychology. I have worked in the mental health field since 2013 and specialize in working with adults and adolescents who experience: anxiety, stress and burnout, relationship issues, identity development, substance use, and behavioral problems.

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is helping you figure out what makes you feel stuck. We will work together to uncover the roots and patterns that stop you from living the life you want to live. My passion is to help you heal and reconnect with your authentic self; we will do so by focusing on emotional intelligence and relational improvement (both with yourself, and with others).

My hope is for you to learn to be yourself, free from judgment in your relationships, your work, and in your life. When you are ready, I will be honored to walk alongside you on this journey!

Meet jessie

The world is constantly changing, and so are we! The stress of school, work and family are a lot to take on at a young age, and can feel like the weight of the word even into adulthood. I am here to work alongside you to teach you coping skills, life skills, and every day strategies to deal with anxiety, depression, stress, and more.

I like to explore out of the box ways to help you learn how to manage your mental health. I am here to show you that no matter where you are, I can meet you there.

I work with children, teens, and adults from a strengths based approach and training in Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). I look forward to working alongside you!

I have a masters degree in professional mental health counseling from Liberty University and am a licensed mental health clinical associate.  My experience is with children, adults, and families through home and community based services. I can do virtual, teletherapy, or in-person sessions. My specialties are in the areas of child and adult care, parenting/caregiver challenges, childhood trauma, relationship challenges, disruptive school behaviors, sibling rivalry, clinical issues such as ADHD, demand avoidance, PMDD, anxiety, anger and stress management. I also with those who are struggling to identify feelings that are hard describe or understand at the moment.

I have helped many navigate through difficult and challenging life events, utilizing an eclectic approach of: TFCBT, CBT, motivational interviewing, mindfulness therapy, person centered approaches, as well as art, play, and music therapy. I maintain a certification in solution based casework, designed to encourage change, cooperation and understanding with a family focus.

I am available to work with children ages 4 and up, teens, and adults of all ages. Couples are also welcome. I am a LGBTQI safe therapist. Please feel welcome to schedule a 15 minute meeting to discuss any questions that you have regarding my therapy style.

How We Heal

Imagine someone listening without judging or giving unsolicited advice. Imagine having a place to go where no one asks something of you, where you can finally let go. Family, friends and society may not understand, or may be unable to carry our burdens. Therapy is intended to enter our lives when support is needed.

At Well Heart, we believe that everyone is capable of healing. By establishing a trusting, open relationship we work together to find this. Because each person is unique, an individual approach works better than adhering to a specific therapeutic model. We will explore your symptoms in an effort to ease them, as well as to understand the meaning beneath them.

We approach clients with compassion, nonjudgement, and encourage the process of understanding combined with learning how to be gentle with oneself. We provide help to clients of all ages and circumstances, including individuals, couples, and families.

In the space of a safe and nurturing relationship you will gain insight, process current emotions and past experiences, and learn new coping skills.
